Katherine Govier will speak about the origins and the mission of The Shoe Project, and describe how it has grown from a one-off 12-person workshop, to a national projects enhancing the written and publicly-spoken English of Canadian newcomer women. She will discuss shoes as a catalyst for personal storytelling, and give an outline of The Shoe Project’s method of leading newcomer women with intermediate level English to articulate, write and perform short personal memoirs. Five Calgary members of The Shoe Project will perform their stories.
