Can-Do Lists: Student vs Teacher Perceptions of Language Ability

Can-do lists can benefit both students, by giving a realistic understanding of their language abilities, and teachers, by providing a tool for designing a curriculum which addresses student shortcomings. Participants will discuss research on student language abilities in an employment context.


Peter Connell

The Immigrant Education Society (TIES)
Peter Connell has taught English and carried out a wide variety of assessments for over 25 years. His experience is based in Canada, Japan, and Germany. His research interests include curriculum development and designing assessments based on real-life tasks.

Daniel Ling
