Can English Teachers from China Benefit From Short-Term Courses in Canada?

We followed a group of 19 Chinese teachers who participated in a five-month program in Edmonton and compared their ability to make socially appropriate requests to another group who stayed in China. Discussion will focus on the implications of the findings for the design of short-term study-abroad programs for teachers.
